Quote of the Week
“You will be the same person in five years as you are today
except for the people you meet and the books you read”
– Charlie “Tremendous” Jones
What the ‘Tribe is reading
In this week’s “5 Things” we are combining what we are reading and the Quote of the week into one. Please read this Sunday Reflections by Paul Jones:
I have over the past few weeks focused, not surprisingly, on life during the lockdown. Well, lockdown is still a reality albeit that the rules seem to be changing. For many, we are still not allowed out unless we have an important reason to be going somewhere. Strange times indeed. Over the next couple of weeks, I want to change the subject matter and share some thoughts on quotes that I have come across over the years that have left an indelible impression on my thinking. I have internalised these quotes and they have become part of my thinking. Hopefully, they can help you too.
What the ‘Tribe is listening to/ watching
In the last week I came across some animated explanations of how certain things work. It is the YouTube channel of Jarred Owen. It came last week as much of the world was watching the SpaceX launch and I came across an animation of the International Space Station. Since then I have been going through Jared Owen’s animations and they are fantastic!
So here is the link to the first animation I watched (How does the International Space Station work?) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLrOnEmy_GA.
Other animations include: How big is the solar system; How does an escalator work; How small is an atom; Phases of the moon etc etc – They are all fascinating!
What the ‘Tribe is smiling about
In the past few months, and this last week specifically, there has not been much to smile about. But we do need to just take a time to step back and breath…and find a moment to smile at something.
This moment will bring a smile to anyone – A heartwarming moment was captured when a “hero” nurse working on the frontline was reunited with her two daughters, after being apart for nine weeks.
Usually you need a really strong flour to make pizza but this recipe just uses all purpose flour to get a really good crispy pizza base from your ordinary home kitchen oven! This literally takes 30 minutes from start to when the pizza is popped into the oven.
What have you done this week?
We welcome you to contribute by posting to your timeline on the TaxTribe Platform (www.taxtribe.org).
We will start it off this week (Edition 1) but from next week will start posting what you, the ‘Tribe, are adding to your timelines
- It does not have to deal with just tax.
- Make it interesting.
- It does not have to be all the items below – it can just be one.
- Please keep it clean!*
- If you think it is interesting but does not fit into the 5 categories below – send it – diversity is great!
*We will obviously check what is posted first 🙂
Tell us (with a brief description, and link):
